Family Engagement Workshops by Wolf Trap

Workshop #1 - Express Yourself presented by Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artist Valerie Branch
This workshop is supported by U.S Embassy in Singapore 

Play, learn, and bond as a whole family in Wolf Trap Institute’s Family Involvement workshops. Join Master Teaching Artist Valerie Branch in an interactive movement experience designed for children – creating dances and exploring choreography that reflects your individual characteristics, and what makes you unique!

What to expect:
An engaging opportunity for families to sing, move, and learn together!

Recommended for: Children ages 3-6, their parents/caregivers, and their siblings

This workshop is supported by U.S Embassy Singapore 

Play, learn, and bond as a whole family in Wolf Trap Institute’s Family Involvement workshops. Discover new words on adventures with favorite wild creatures! Wolf Trap drama and music artist, Christina Farrell, shares favorite songs and stories about animals in the natural world. Parents will discover how to use music, creative movement and storytelling techniques to explore new vocabulary with their children – creating huge, gigantic, mammoth fun for the whole family!

What to expect:

Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artists

Valerie Branch
Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artist

Valerie Branch became a Wolf Trap artist in 2014 and provides residencies in early childhood classrooms. She has experience touring as a performing and teaching artist both nationally and internationally. She has taught as an independent artist and with different organizations such as WPAS and is a teaching artist with Young Audiences of Maryland.  

As a teaching artist, Valerie brought dance into schools in South Africa and St. George’s, Grenada and also received an invitation from the Danish Embassy to participate in a Cultural Arts Program Exchange Visit to Denmark.  

Valerie graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor’s degree in Dance. She is the founder and artistic director of VB Dance Ensemble, a professional contemporary company focused on bringing social and cultural awareness and change through the power of dance.

Christina Farrell
Wolf Trap Master Teaching Artist
Christina Farrell’s extensive experience as a Teaching Artist includes classroom residencies and professional development for Gateway to the Arts Aesthetic Education Institute and the Western Pennsylvania Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning in the Arts. She is the Founding Director of Opera Ignite, a company dedicated to creative education through music, drama, and movement. Through Opera Ignite, she conducts classroom residencies, professional development for teachers, and audience engagement workshops. She is also the Educational Director for Prime Stage Theatre which promotes literacy skills to reluctant adolescent readers through theater-based experiences. Her professional development workshops have been featured at various Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Conferences, the 2010 Pittsburgh Association for the Education of Young Children Conference and the 2011 Conference on Eugene O’Neill in association with New York University. She was chosen as the 2007 Gateway to the Arts Hardie Artist of the Year in recognition of her outstanding commitment to arts education and is a recipient of the 2011 Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship. Christina received her BFA in Vocal Performance from Carnegie Mellon University and MA in Educational Theatre from New York University. She has performed with Washington National Opera, Baltimore’s Opera Vivente, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, and at the John F. Kennedy
